Spiritual Partners with Nicole Nichols & Michael Hewett. A dharma and asana workshop that will examine how we can take the yoga of relationships as a direct path to spiritual development, and how to liberate ourselves from the habits that keep us from loving fearlessly. Discussion led by Nicole, asana and meditation led by Michael. Partners not required. (Saturday only)

Take a Ride on the Love Highway, heart-opening asana class with Nicole Nicols Featuring juicy love songs to get your winds flowing straight to the heart. Come and get your lovin’ on!

Ashtanga Primary Series with Renee McNamara. Coming from Shri K. Pattabhi Jois’ Institute in Mysore, India, Renee brings her extensive training with in her commitment to teach the series in the tradition of its Guru.

Landscape and the Subtle Body with Jessica Kung. Bring your favorite drawing materials and explore the five elements of earth, water, fire, wind, and air both in the beautiful outdoors and in our own bodies.

Intuitive Dance with Amy Safrankova Open up to your own intuition and joy.  Access the heart of your spiritual practice through dance.

Everyday’s Song with David Gluck. Inspired by the work of Bill T. Jones, to you on a fun and creative musical odyssey of discovery, renewal and healing by creating music from your own life’s journey. No musical experience necessary.

Healing Perspectives, Private Sessions with Dianne Arnold, LMT. Dianne listens deeply to your needs, works with your issues using body centered counseling, hands on healing of your subtle body, or shamanic counseling with a big heart.

Intuitive Counseling, Private Sessions with Gabriele Vigorelli. Dissolve the disconnect, release the struggle, drop mistaken perception and realize your own true enlightened nature.

Kids Yoga with Eliza Engelbrecht. Join the fun with Certified Next Generation Yoga for Kids teacher.

Fire Puja: Mind Purification in Four Steps lead by Rosa van Grieken. This practice teaches how to clean up and purify our past negativity to prevent that old bad deeds from ripening upon us as suffering in our life. (Saturday only)

Rates are per person for the entire weekend, all inclusive of workshops, programs, 6 organic meals, round-trip transportation and room including taxes.

Families are encouraged to join the Spring Transformation retreat, Kids must stay in a room with their parents, either semi-private or small dorm style, and have meals with their families.  Rates are per child and are all inclusive as above.  In addition to being welcome at all appropriate activities, there will be classes just for the kids. Childcare is also provided free of charge!

Faculty Biographies

Kimberley Veenhof is Executive Director and a Senior Staff Teacher for Yoga Studies Institute. Kimberley teaches hatha and raja yoga in the lineage of her Teachers. Over the past five years she has worked with YSI’s Founders to develop the programs of YSI, leading teacher trainings, retreats and workshops. She has been in deep study with Geshe Michael Roach, Lama Christie McNally, and many spiritual teachers around the world for close to 20 years. Kimberley and her husband live in the desert of Arizona, teach in the heart of New York City, and lead retreats all over the world.

Dianne Arnold is a graduate of the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy, the Center for Intentional Living, and the Brennan School of Healing, where she was also a faculty member. She is co-founder of the Peacemaker School of Shamanic Healing and has had a private practice for over 15 years.

Shri Devi Chapman received teacher certification in the Jivamukti lineage following a trip to India in 2006. She is currently developing a fund raiser for Surfriders Foundation that seeks to unite the yoga and surfing communities at the local level.

Eliza Engelbrecht
has studied and taught many yoga styles and now concentrates on healing through Restorative and Thai Yoga. She is Operations Director of Kaladanda, a yoga/lifestyle clothing company, created and run by yogis on Enlightened Business principles.

David Gluck
is a graduate of the New York University Music program, and has worked extensively in music, most notably with kirtan group Sounds of She.  In 2003 David became a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher, and has worked professionally teaching both yoga and dharma since then.  David has been a close student of Kimberley Veenhof, Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally since 2005.

Michael Hewett has been teaching yoga for a dozen years, combining Vinyasa style and practical application of Tibetan Buddhist & yogic philosophies and meditation as the springboard into the direct perception of Ultimate Reality. Michael is also an accomplished composer and guitarist, having released three CDs with more to come in 2009.

Bruce Klein is an ACI student and board member of The Three Jewels Outreach Dharma Center. Bruce is a husband, father, grandfather and businessman.

Jessica Kung is an artist, designer, and yoga teacher. She is a Yoga Studies Institute staff teacher and a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Jessica studied art and architecture at Yale University, graduating cum laude in 2004. She currently has a studio in Tucson where she makes art as a spiritual practice.

Matthew Lombardo is a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher who leads yoga and dharma retreats in New York and throughout the United States.

Renee McNamara
is committed to teaching the Ashtanga Primary Series in the tradition of its Guru and hers, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. She has been practicing extensively with his grandson, R. Sharath, at the Institute in Mysore, India, and has completed intensive trainings with three Senior-Certified Ashtanga teachers, including Richard Freeman.

Kelly Morris
is the founder and director of Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training Program/NYC. A close student of Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally, Kelly teaches that with correct understanding and application of karma and emptiness and the practice of yoga, your life will be transformed from suffering to unlimited joy.

Nicole Nichols
is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher and has been teaching in New York City since 1995. Her classes are influenced heavily by devotional scripture, music and her training in classical ballet, turning the practice into a full-body moving prayer and meditation to arrive at a transformed state through which to view and serve the world.

Amy Safrankova has been dancing and practicing yoga since her feet first touched ground. She has studied and performed with dance companies in Colorado, Texas, New York City and Prague,  has over 20 years of classical ballet training, and conducts workshops.

Alyssa Scheunemann is an 800 hour level Jivamukti Certified Yoga teacher, and has received live transmission of all eight Tibetan Heart Yoga series directly from Geshe Michael Roach and Lama Christie McNally.  She is best known for her deep, transformative hands-on asana adjustments.

Brooks Singer holds a BS in Philosophy from Northeastern University and an MA in Religion from Drew University. He has been studying Buddhism for 20 years under great teachers such as Geshe Michael Roach, John Brady, and Kimberley and Doug Veenhof. Lately he has started studying martial arts at the world renowned Ray Longo International Martial Arts Academy.

Rosa van Grieken
has been studying Buddhist meditation and yoga since 2003 with Geshe Michael Roach, Lama Christie McNally, Lama Kimberley Veenhof, Lama Doug Veenhof and Lama John Brady. She is a student at Diamond Mountain University, Creative Director for Kaladanda Yogawear and a faculty member of Parsons School of Design.

Gabriele Vigorelli is a dedicated spiritual practitioner of many traditions, including Hindu, Buddhist and yogic philosophy. He offers intuitive counseling services for spiritual enrichment and personal growth.
